Free Lightroom Film Presets: 9 Sources and How to Install Them

Free Lightroom film presets now come straight from their makers: RNI's All Films 5 Demo (six profile-based looks, including Kodak Portra 400 and Ilford Delta 100), Luke Taylor's single .xmp presets, Gridfiti's four $0 presets with mobile DNG files, and the film-style presets and Fujifilm profiles already inside Lightroom. Free Lightroom film presets worth downloading, by maker
Camera Dojo has no preset pack of its own and has not tested these. Each entry follows the maker's own page, checked October 28, 2026, and covers what it emulates, what it costs and what the terms say where the page states them. The Fujifilm entry follows two how-to guides instead, since those profiles are built into Lightroom.

Profile-based film looks, free
Free (All Films 5 Lite $96 and Pro $192 as of Oct 2026)
Six looks from RNI's paid All Films 5: Kodak Portra 400, Kodak E200, Polaroid 690 Muted, Agfacolor 40s, Kodak Aerochrome 16 and Ilford Delta 100. RNI, a small London company, builds them on film color profiles, which leave your Lightroom sliders untouched and let you adjust the strength of each look. The pack syncs to Lightroom mobile on iOS and Android through Adobe Creative Cloud.
Watch out: It needs an up-to-date Lightroom, Lightroom Classic or Camera Raw, and RNI's license forbids copying or sharing the files without written permission.

Luke Taylor's free film presets
Single film-inspired looks as a direct .xmp download
Free
Photographer Luke Taylor posts free single presets on his blog, including Kodak Portra 400, Kodak ColorPlus 200, Natura 1600 (after Fujifilm Natura 1600), Fuji Color Negative Film and ColorMax Film. He says plainly that they are his interpretations, not exact matches of the film.
Watch out: Each download is one .xmp file with no license stated, so ask him before using one for client work.

Gridfiti free film presets
Editing on your phone: every free preset includes a mobile DNG

Gridfiti has four single presets at $0: Summer Portra (Kodak Portra 400), Cinematic CineStill (CineStill 800T), Tinted Gold (Kodak Gold) and Fujifilm Dynamic, a neutral look with gentle contrast. Each includes an XMP file for Lightroom desktop and a DNG file for the Lightroom mobile app, and works on raw and JPEG images.
Watch out: Personal use only; the free CineStill preset leaves out the red halation glow (that is in the paid pack), and Tinted Gold is a cool blue-green look, not the warm one the name suggests.

Free looks that name the film they follow

PresetPro's free collection, posted by Tim Martin, often names the film behind a preset: Velvia Film after Fuji Velvia 50, Kodachrome after Kodachrome 64, Vista Plus after Agfa Vista 200 and Disposable 400 after the Superia X-tra 400 inside Fujifilm's QuickSnap, plus Portra and Kodak Gold 200 looks. It states that it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Kodak, Fujifilm, Agfa, Ilford or Polaroid.
Watch out: PresetPro and FreePresets.com are the same company, and its terms bar reselling the presets or using them commercially without permission.

PSD Stack free film presets
Every Lightroom version, including old ones

PSD Stack's free film page lists dozens of film-named presets, among them Kodak Gold, Kodak Ektar, Kodachrome 64, Fuji Provia, Fuji Velvia, Aerochrome, Portra 400 and a CineStill V2 preset with rich contrast, color shifts and subtle grain. Downloads come as XMP (Lightroom Classic, Lightroom and Photoshop), DNG (Lightroom mobile) and lrtemplate (older Lightroom versions).
Watch out: The list gives one line per preset, with no description of the look and no license terms, so you judge each one by downloading it.

Lightroom's built-in film-style presets (Adobe)
Trying a film look with nothing to download
Included with Lightroom
Adobe lists film-style presets preloaded in Lightroom under the Yours tab: Vintage Instant (the warm, washed-out look of an old Polaroid), B&W High Contrast (early Kodak and Agfa black-and-white film), Cool Shadows & Warm Highlights (a photo from an old Fujifilm camera) and Cool Matte (a faded matte print).
Watch out: They are general styles rather than copies of one film stock, so treat them as a starting point.

Fujifilm film simulations (Camera Matching profiles)
Fujifilm owners who shoot raw
Included with Lightroom
With a Fujifilm raw file open in Develop, click the four-square icon next to Profile in the Basic panel and open the Camera Matching group. Provia, Velvia, Classic Chrome and the other film simulations your camera offers are there, at no extra cost.
Watch out: It works with raw files from Fujifilm cameras only, and the result won't exactly match the camera's JPEGs, which also get in-camera sharpening and noise reduction.

A bundle of general film moods

The School of Photography, run by professional photographer Marc Newton, gives away 19 film presets that it describes as ranging from vintage tones to high-contrast moods. They arrive as an email attachment after you fill in a form.
Watch out: The page doesn't say which film stocks the presets emulate or how to install them on mobile, and you hand over your email address.

Looks Like Film Zion 01, C 01 and C 02 (Meridian)
One warm, all-around film look
Free (Meridian lists C 01 at €0)
Looks Like Film gives away Zion 01, which it describes as warm tones with a film aesthetic, plus two more free presets, C 01 and C 02. It says its presets are created with its preset brand Meridian, and Meridian's store lists C 01 at €0.
Watch out: Meridian's store prices in euros and takes you through a checkout, and the pages don't say which film stock each look follows.

If you want one specific film, start with this table. It lists only free options from the makers on this page, with the catch for each where there is one.

How to install film presets in Lightroom Classic and Lightroom desktop
Current presets are .xmp files, the format Lightroom Classic has used since version 7.3; older packs use .lrtemplate. If a download offers both, take the XMP files.

Open the import in Lightroom Classic
In the Develop module, find the Presets panel on the left, click the + icon and choose Import Presets.

Pick the ZIP or the XMP files
Guides disagree here. PSD Stack says keep the file zipped, Understand Photography says XMP presets need no unzipping, and ON1 says extract the ZIP first. Try the ZIP; if Lightroom won't take it, unzip it and select the .xmp files.

Lightroom desktop (the cloud app)
Click the Edit icon, open Presets at the bottom, click the three-dot icon, choose Import Presets and select the ZIP or XMP files.

Photoshop Camera Raw
Go to Filter > Camera Raw Filter, open the Presets icon, click the three-dot icon, choose Import Profiles and Presets and select the zipped file.

How to add film presets to Lightroom mobile (free app)
Adobe says Lightroom for mobile is a free app for iOS and Android. There are three ways to get presets onto it, plus a caveat for profile packs, and the DNG method needs no paid plan.

Import a ZIP directly
Open a photo, tap Presets, switch to the Yours category, tap the three-dot menu, choose Import Presets and pick the downloaded ZIP. Lightroom for iOS got this in the June 2024 update; Android already had it.

Use DNG files, no subscription
Add the DNG files to Lightroom mobile like photos, open one, tap the three-dot menu and choose Create Preset. Uncheck Exposure (under Light) and White Balance (under Color) so the preset doesn't overwrite them on your photos, then save, and repeat for each DNG.

Sync from your computer
Presets installed in Lightroom desktop sync to mobile through Creative Cloud. Sources disagree on Lightroom Classic: ON1 says Classic syncs presets automatically, while preset maker Misha Martin says to install them in Lightroom desktop, not Classic.

Profile packs on iPhone
Users on Adobe's forum report that Lightroom on iPhone and iPad won't import XMP profiles, which Android can. Install profile-based packs such as RNI's on Lightroom desktop and let them sync.

Do free film presets really look like film?
Not exactly, and the makers of the free ones say so. Luke Taylor calls his Portra 400 and ColorPlus 200 presets his interpretation of the film, and says his Natura 1600 preset was never meant to be an exact match. Gridfiti's free CineStill preset leaves out the red halation glow the real film is famous for.
Paid makers point to their methods instead. RNI builds its looks on film color profiles, and Mastin Labs markets its presets as made from real film scans, at $69 for a single desktop pack on sale (October 2026, marked down from $99). Camera Dojo has not compared them side by side.
Your file matters as much as the preset. RNI says its presets are designed for raw but also work on properly exposed JPEGs from modern cameras, sometimes with extra brightness and contrast correction. How to make photos look like film in Lightroom without a preset
If no free preset fits, build the look yourself. These moves follow ShootDotEdit's guide, and they also work as tweaks on top of any preset above.

Start from raw
ShootDotEdit says shooting raw gives you more creative freedom when you edit.

Soften clarity
Lower Clarity a little, but not past -30, for a realistic result.

Fade the tone curve
Drag the leftmost point of the curve up to lift the blacks and the rightmost point down to lower the whites. This gives a more faded, vintage look.

Shift colors in HSL
In the HSL panel, try slightly pulling down the yellow and green sliders for a more desaturated effect, as ShootDotEdit suggests. The School of Photography says lower saturation gives a more muted, vintage look.

Add grain
Lightroom's Grain effect has three sliders, Amount, Size and Roughness. Keep it subtle.

Save it as your own preset
Once the look is right, save the settings as a new preset so you can apply it to the rest of the set.

Presets vs profiles: what's the difference?
A preset moves Lightroom's sliders for you. A profile sits underneath them: RNI says All Films 5 applies its looks through adjustable profiles, which leave your sliders untouched and let you set the strength of each film look.
Fujifilm's Camera Matching film simulations are profiles too, which is why you find them in the profile browser rather than the Presets panel.
Can you use free presets for client work? License terms by maker

What happened to the free presets that used to be on this page?
Camera Dojo is under new ownership, and the former owner's free presets are no longer available. Camera Dojo does not make or sell presets of its own. This page now points to free film presets from their original makers, each linked to the maker's own page.
Are there free film presets for Lightroom Mobile?
Yes. Gridfiti and PSD Stack include DNG files that work in the free mobile app, and Luke Taylor's .xmp files can be imported directly from the Yours tab of the Presets panel. RNI's All Films 5 Demo syncs to mobile through Creative Cloud once it is installed on desktop.

Do I need a Lightroom subscription to use free presets?
Not on a phone: Adobe says Lightroom for mobile is free on iOS and Android, and the DNG method works without a paid plan. Lightroom desktop and Lightroom Classic need a plan, from $11.99 a month for Adobe's Lightroom plan (October 2026). Adobe lists a 7-day free trial; RNI's pages still link to a 30-day trial, so go by Adobe's page.

Do film presets work on JPEG photos?
Usually, yes. Luke Taylor's Portra 400 preset and Gridfiti's four free presets list raw and JPEG support. RNI says its presets are designed for raw but perform well on properly exposed JPEGs from modern cameras, sometimes with extra brightness and contrast correction.

Why is the Camera Matching group missing for my Fujifilm photos?
Fujifilm's film simulation profiles need raw files from a Fujifilm camera, so check that you aren't editing a JPEG. If the group is still missing, an Adobe forum expert suggests right-clicking the Adobe Raw profile group and choosing Reset Hidden Profiles.

Are VSCO film presets still available for Lightroom?
Not the originals. VSCO stopped offering downloads, license keys and support for its desktop film presets on March 1, 2019. Today it offers four Lightroom film packs (Film 01, 02, 05 and 07) through its VSCO One membership, which is not free.
